JAKARTA - Are you among those who like to play games with the role playing game (RPG) genre, but are bored with RPG games that have been around so far? Try playing 'The Point of No Return' which comes from Ukraine.
Unlike most RPG games that feature violence, war and bloodshed, Alexey Furman's 'The Point of No Return' was made so that people understand the post-war trauma that soldiers experience.
Launching Euronews, this game was created to provide an overview of the experience of soldiers on the battlefield for those who have never experienced it. The game can also help those closest to you understand what veterans are going through on the battlefield.
"You play as a man who signs up and goes into battle, has an uneasy experience and makes them return home with mental and physical trauma," explains Furman.
Interestingly, although it is made in the style of a popular RPG, the appearance of this game is different from most war games. The developer claims the game presents a real atmosphere that the Ukrainian army faces on the front lines in the face of rebel groups.
"What I do with 'The Point of No Return' is to bridge the war veterans and the experiences they have had with those who have never been to the battlefield. Those who don't know what it feels like to be under (pounding) mortars every day," said Furman.
'The Point of No Return' is based on the experiences of several real characters who experience conflict in East Ukraine. One of them is the experience of an army veteran named Dmytro Bondar.
"When making 'The Point of No Return', we looked for references and made sure the visuals were as detailed as possible. Starting from natural contours, objects, weapons, ammunition, to various other boxes," said Bondar.
The game, which costs about 30 thousand US dollars, is funded and supported by the Ukrainian Cultural Fund. If nothing gets in the way, the game will launch in fall 2021 on PC format for free. Interesting right?
