JAKARTA Chilez (CHZ), a platform focused on payment solutions for the sports and entertainment industry, is preparing for the launch of the Chiliz Chain 2.0. The information was announced by Chilez and Socios CEO Alexandre Dreyfus recently.

Some time ago, Chiliz has released Testnet Spice. The testnet, which launched on January 25, 2023, was intended to provide overall security and blockchain performance improvements.

Dreyfus said that the Spicy Testnet would be the last major upgrade before the launch of the Chilez Chain 2.0 mainnet. In the long term, the Spicy Testnet will eventually replace Scoville Testnet, which was introduced in March 2022 when the initial announcement of the Chiliz 2.0 chain was made.

In addition, it is stated that Scoville and Spice's testnets will run in parallel for now. However, the Spicy Testnet is recommended for use by developers as it will be updated to directly reflect the new Chiliz Chain 2.0 blockchain.

Sports Clubs Can Make Play-to-earn Games

The launch of the Chiliz Chain 2.0 is expected to bring significant improvements in the utility of the CHZ token. In a blog post, the company stated that the new network or chain will allow sports and entertainment brands to print NFTs and fan tokens, create DeFi products and Play2EARn games, as well as create events, loyalty, and merchant programs.

According to the company, the Chiliz Chain 2.0 was developed in collaboration with Ankr and is compatible with EVM and adopts the PoSA (Proof-of-Stake Authority) model. This signifies a shift from the CHZ function as a currency in the Socios Chiliz platform application to drive the Chilez's new ecosystem network. With this launch, Chiliz hopes to provide new experiences and increase user participation in its ecosystem.
