JAKARTA Electric car manufacturer Polestar has provided facelift changes to Polestar 2 EV which, plus several other upgrades to the 2024 model. The fastback electric sedan maker has also increased the range the model can drive up to 300 miles (482 km) on a single charge by adding more powerful motors.
The manufacturer also introduced a rear wheel drive model alongside some minor changes such as wireless phone charging and driver awareness features that are now included as standard.
The most visible changes to Polestar 2 are newly present in the form of a new flat front grip design, which fits the latest Polestar 3 SUV look from the automaker. Polestar calls this new grip "SmartZone", which houses components and sensors used for advanced safety features and driver assistants.
SmartZone includes cameras, medium-range radars, accelerometers, ultrasonic sensors, and heating cables so that everything doesn't freeze in the colder climate. This is something that the Swedish-based automaker has to understand very well.

Polestar 2 now displays a maximum range of 300 miles (the current EPA estimate) on a single-motor RWD model, an upgrade at a range of 270 miles from the FWD version released in the United States last year.
This increase is largely due to the inclusion of larger battery packs that have grown from 78kWh to 82kWh. Larger battery packs can charge at 205kW faster or up from 155kW, at compatible charging stations.
The car performance was also improved because the new permanent magnetic motor was able to produce 299 stances and 361 torques, compared to 231 FWD stances and 243-feet torques. RWD is now also faster with 0-60mph acceleration in 5.9 seconds or less than 7.0 seconds.
According to Polestar, the new RWD battery is also more environmentally friendly. They stated that the new package has increased cell chemistry which reduces carbon emissions from seven tons per car to only 5.9 tons. Polestar plans to assess the full life cycle of battery packs by 2023.

Some of the AWD Polestar 2 can be encouraged to work better thanks to over-the-air Performance Pack software updates. Once implemented, it gets a performance of 455 stances, and can go 0-60mph in 4.1 seconds.
The previous model with Performance Pack increased the 0-60mph time from 4.5 to 4.2 seconds. In fact, if the Performance Package is added at the time of vehicle purchase, customers will get the Plus Package which is included at a cost of 4,200 US dollars which includes comfort such as a driven steering wheel.
