JAKARTA - Bad news comes from Apple, where they have decided to postpone the introduction of their first augmented reality (AR) glasses. The company is now working on an economic AR/VR headset that is claimed to be present before the high-end mixed reality headset in 2025.

Apple revealed its first generation high-end mixed reality headset later this year and the company is also developing slimmer AR glasses that can look like regular glasses.

However, a report said Apple had delayed the launch of AR glasses indefinitely, due to technological limitations.

According to a Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman report, Apple will focus on a mixed reality headset that has more affordable prices, following first-generation devices.

Mixed reality headsets allow users to self-impose in AR/VR all in one. Headsets are oriented primarily to experiments in the metaverse, in collaborative video calls, and also to all kinds of immersive experiences.

Gurman stated that Apple developers are reportedly working on a cheaper headset model, where the company is considering further strategies to lower product costs.

This can cause the device to be equipped with a lower resolution screen, cheaper parts, less sensors, slower processor speed, and a lack of H2 chips, which lower latency when used with AirPods.

The mixed reality headset will initially be priced at US$3,000, equivalent to Rp45 million. However, people familiar with Apple's plans told Gurman that a cheaper mixed reality headset would come in 2024 or early 2025 for $ 1,500 million.

Launching BGR, Thursday, January 19, the mixed reality headset will be a stand-alone device with dual CPUs for advanced virtual reality operations and effective A-series processors in it.

The design of the device may resemble the VR headset on the market, but is expected to be lighter and slimmer overall.
