JAKARTA - Ukraine continues to adopt cryptocurrency payments at crypto exchange Binance amid an ongoing war with Russia.

Pharmacies in Ukraine are embracing digital payments amid ongoing wars, with key local chains allowing payments in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.

ANC Pharmacy, one of the country's largest pharmacy chains, has partnered with Binance Ukraine to start cryptocurrency payments through contactless crypto payment services, Binance Pay.

ANC Pharmacy now allows its customers to resume instant payments while buying pharmaceutical products online, the chain was officially announced on January 3.

A pharmacy network that operates more than 1,000 pharmacies across Ukraine, runs its own online pharmacy service. According to the announcement, Binance Pay payments were originally due to be launched in Kyiv.

New payment features will be available at ANC pharmacies as well as stores operated by ANC Pharmacies such as Kopiyka and Shara. ANC, Kopiyka, and Shara are the first pharmacies in Europe to receive crypto, the announcement said, as quoted by Cointelegraph.

To continue crypto payments, users need to download the Binance app and then go to the ANC website. After selecting a product to order online, users will be able to pay using Binance Pay and take orders at the selected location.

A Ukrainian Binance spokesman did not immediately respond to Cointelegraph's request for comment on the report.

Binance has been actively encouraging its presence in Ukraine over the past few years. In September 2022, Binance partnered with Ukraine's supermarket chain Varus, allowing customers to pay for food purchases through Binance Pay Wallet.

In early February 2022 just weeks before Russian troops invaded Ukraine's Ukrainian general manager, Kirill Khomyakov, told Cointelegraph that launching a Binance Card in Ukraine is one of its top priorities for 2022.

According to Khomyakov, crypto payments through services such as Binance Cards do not conflict with Ukrainian laws because there is no prohibition on crypto transactions in the country. At the same time, local laws do not allow direct payments in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.
