JAKARTA - Lucid Motors finally features its luxurious all-electric Gravity SUV for the first time. The new image released by automaker Tuesday, November 15 shows off a wide three-line interior with a double middle seat that has a donateable footwear and exterior featuring a dive glass roof.

Gravity is the second vehicle model of this electric car maker to be made public. In a press release, Lucid design SVP, Derek Jenkins, said they "do not set aside the opportunity to build everything they learned with Lucid Air," the first luxury electric sedan from the electric car manufacturer.

No images show off the front interior, but Lucid promises the next generation "Class Cockpit" with a high-resolution display that will run on a new version of its Lucid UX software. For the back, there will be several passenger seat configurations, including configurations five, six, and seven seats.

Lucid declined to disclose additional information about Gravity, including range or cruising power, performance, and prices, until bookings opened in early 2023. The design and specifications are not fully completed, but the US automaker plans to work on it "parallelly" with the expansion of the AMP-1 plant at Casa Grande, Arizona.

Hints about the Lucid SUV began in 2019 when the head of technology division Peter Rawlinson, who is now CEO, told The Verge that plans to produce an SUV are "very likely". But the SUV will no longer be mentioned until the company goes public through a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) merger in 2021. At that time, the SUV is scheduled to be released in 2023.

Meanwhile, Lucid said it would start shipping the first version of the Touring midtrim from the luxury electric sedan Air Touring. Starting from 107,400 US dollars, this version has the driving of all two-wheeled motors measuring 620 stances and can travel from zero to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. The model comes up with an 18-module "Voter Road" battery pack, opposite to the "Entended frame" of 22 modules, which adds more space for rear seats and can cover a distance of 425 miles on a single charge. The water Touring also matches the efficiency of 4.6 miles per kWh from the more expensive version of Grand Touring.

Lucid has so far only sent an initial launch version, called Air Dream Edition, which starts at a price of 169,000 US dollars and a top Grand Touring trim model that currently starts at 154,000 US dollars. Now the Dream variant is no longer available.

The double-motor version of the 480-power horse from a slightly cheaper model, Lucid Air Pure, will also be present this year. It can cover a distance of up to 410 miles on a single charge using the same 18-module battery from Air Touring.

Just like the initial lower-bottom Tesla Model S trim, Air Pure replaces the glass roof with a body metal roof made of aluminum, and the cheapest version with a single-motor rear wheel drive will arrive in 2023.

Air Pure retains many of the features of other models, but for a lower initial price of US$87,400, the seat is made of imitation skin, not Nappa, excluding the Dolby Atmos "Surreal Sound Pro"-capable speaker system by default, and has most of the plain black "Mojave" interior with recycled weaving textile decorations, and buyers can only get the less luxurious Aero wheeling option.

All Lucid Air models have now been slightly tuned to achieve the 0.197 drag coefficient, becoming the "most efficient aerodynamic production car in the market," the company said.

In comparison, the new Ioniq 6 from Hyundai has a drag coefficient of 0.21, and the Tesla Model S Plaid is 0.208. All models are also equipped with an advanced driver assistance system Lucid's DreamDrive Pro which uses a combination of lidar, camera, and ultrasonic systems and will eventually become a semiautonomous through software updates, Lucid claims.

Air Touring and Pure Lucid models are now joining the currently available Grand Touring, which can reach a distance of 516 miles further in one charge. In the first half of 2023, Lucid will start production of the top trim Air Saphire with three motors, starting at 249,000 US dollars.

Lucid said he is currently perfecting the vehicle on public roads and racing tracks and estimates it will be able to reach zero acceleration of up to 60 mph in just 1.89 seconds.

Even so, this is a difficult year for Lucid. They had to revise the forecast for its delivery to a maximum of 7,000 vehicles, the second time it had to cut production this year due to sustainable supply chain challenges. In February, the production target reached 14,000 vehicles.

With some old reservation holders finally getting their cheaper Air Touring sedan this year and the first appearance on the Gravity SUV, the company may have spent as much buzz as possible before the end of this year.

What has not run out is more investment, as automakers reportedly plan to sell up to $915 million to their majority owners, Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund.
