Scrolling TikTok, CapCut The Most Downloaded Apps In October, Indonesia's Most!

JAKARTA - Successfully shifting TikTok, an application also made by ByteDance, CapCut is in first place as the most downloaded mobile app in Southeast Asia for the October 2022 period.

In the previous period, TikTok became the most popular mobile application to be downloaded in Southeast Asia with nearly 12.2 million downloads in September. This number increased 17.9 percent year-on-year.

Based on data from the Store Intelligence Sensor Tower platform, CapCut currently has 14 million downloaders. This number marks an increase of 63.9 percent year-on-year.

Meanwhile, the country with the highest number of CapCut downloaders during that period was occupied by Indonesia with 50.2 percent of the total downloads in Southeast Asia. Then followed by Vietnam with 16.8 percent downloads, and the Philippines with 12.2 percent.

Currently, TikTok must give in to second place as the most downloaded mobile app in Southeast Asia. Just like CapCut, the country with the largest number of TikTok downloads was Indonesia with 44.5 percent, followed by Vietnam with 20.2 percent and Thailand with 12 percent.

Facebook's mobile apps from Meta, Shopee and Instagram from Meta also complement the top five most downloaded mobile apps in Southeast Asia for October this year.

Sensor Tower revealed that the total download of mobile (non-game) apps in October decreased 11.3 percent year-on-year, with 805 million downloads on the App Store and Google Play in Southeast Asia.

The number one market for downloads of the Southeast Asian app is Indonesia. Indonesia contributed nearly 347.3 million downloads or 43.1 percent of total downloads in Southeast Asia. The Philippines ranks second for downloads with 16.5 percent, followed by Vietnam with 16.2 percent.
