JAKARTA - The reshuffle carried out by the new Twitter owner, Elon Musk, actually caused a surge in installations, expenses, and use for its mobile applications.

According to an analysis from the Sensor Tower Store Intelligence shared on its official website, after the acquisition was completed, the Twitter mobile app had received 7.6 million installations worldwide.

Twitter's daily use of mobile apps has also increased slightly, up 2 percent in 12 days after the acquisition when compared to the previous period.

On the other hand, Mastodon and Tumblr, which emerged as alternatives to social media platforms other than Twitter in the US, became the top Social Network applications based on growth in the US on October 31. Mastodon and Tumblr are in first and fourth positions, respectively.

Sensor Tower sees that Mastodon has around 322,000 installations from US app stores in the period 27 October-7 November, a 100-fold increase from 3,000 it saw in the previous period (15 October to 26 October).

Globally, apps grew 657 percent to 1 million in 12 days after submission from 15,000 in the previous period.

Meanwhile, Tumblr sees more growth in the US than globally, where apps rose 96 percent to 92,000 from 47,000. Global installations for Tumblr jumped 77 percent to 301,000 from 170,000.

Sensor Tower predicts the upheaval in the last two weeks is likely to continue in the short term as Twitter launches features and policies quickly under its new leadership. However, the long-term impact has yet to be determined.

"Newcomers may have the opportunity to carve out niche for themselves, although they will definitely face challenges from existing social platforms like Tumblr," the company wrote.
