Not A Day Before Having Elon Musk's Twitter Wants A Content Moderation Council, Meta Offers For Discussion!

JAKARTA - After closing the deal to own Twitter, Elon Musk then tweeted under his leadership, the company will form a content moderation board with a very diverse perspective.

"No big content decisions or account recovery will occur before the council convenes," Musk tweeted.

But Musk's decision was a step back that previously said he would restore the account of former United States President Donald J. Trump and let him rejoin Twitter.

It is unclear whether Trump's account will be restored before the content moderation board is formed or thereafter. Musk's move to form this content moderation board was welcomed by his rival social media, Meta.

In which, Meta's independent supervisory board said it would welcome the opportunity to discuss Twitter's plans for content moderation in more detail with the company.

"Independent supervision of content moderation plays an important role in building trust in the platform and ensuring users are treated fairly," the supervisory board said in a tweet quoted by NYTimes, Saturday, October 29.

Musk has not responded to this. It is known that Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg launched a supervisory board of 2018 consisting of former political leaders, human rights activists, and journalists.

The council has the task of considering Meta content decisions. They also address issues such as the many images of women not wearing clothes on the platform and the role of companies in the spread of anti-Muslim hate speech in Myanmar.

Sometimes the Meta supervisory board returns content decisions to Zuckerberg, as is the question of removing Trump's account from Facebook following the January 6, 2021 riots at the US Capitol.

The supervisory board told Zuckerberg that the decision to ban Trump should be reviewed by the company itself.
