JAKARTA - BYD, the world's leading New Energy Vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, has signed an agreement with internationally well-known car rental company SIXT for the European market a few days ago.

The signing marks the beginning of a significant long-term partnership, to streamline a common vision, which is to help accelerate the adoption of electric mobility.

The company says that the first pure electric BYD car will start being available to SIXT customers in Q4 2022 this year, with an initial order from SIXT for several thousand pure electric BYD cars.

"Cooperation is at the core of BYD's business strategy. We are pleased to start our collaboration with SIXT, the world's fastest-growing car rental company," said Michael Shu, General Manager and Managing Director, BYD Europe and International Cooperation Division in an official statement shared on Twitter.

Shu added that the shared vision between BYD and SIXT allowed him to build a shared green dream, which was originally set to begin in Europe.

"We aim to inspire SIXT customers with products and innovations in EV technology. This is a fun time for BYD, as our leading solutions to the market provide greater access, and more choices for electric mobility," he explained.

It is hoped that this initial order will be further equipped by SIXT with an additional 100,000 BYD electric vehicles over the next six years.

BYD's expertise and ethic supports SIXT's sustainability strategy, with the goal that between 70% and 90% of its fleet will be electrified by 2030.
