JAKARTA - The issue of data leaks has been changing. Based on data summary from Senior Technical Advisor Acer Cyber Security Inc., Charles Lim, during 2022 there are at least 11 short lists of data leaks in Indonesia.
Starting in January, there was a ransomware attack on Bank Indonesia. In the same month, 6 million hospital patient data and data on Pertamina's work applicants were leaked.
Followed by data leakage from BIM, Jasa Marga employees, the Police, to data leaks that were still warm recently, namely PLN customer data, Indihome, Ministry of Law and Human Rights employees as well as SIM card registration data.
When interviewed, Charles said that the data leak in the current institution or government was due to vulnerabilities in three important components of cybersecurity, namely Technology, People, and Process.
"There are actually three (cyber security agencies in the government), the first is technically they don't carry out encryption," Charles told VOI during the Workshop on Increasing the Use of Domestic Products (P3DN) and Cybersecurity in the Region, Tuesday, September 6 in Jakarta.
Then, Charles continued, because the government continued to rotate for two years, the data and accounts always changed hands.
"Well, what we both know is that the government likes to replace people every two years, rotation. We know it is a must. But the problem is, they don't make good handovers," he continued.
According to him, because there is no good handover, it will make the data and accounts held by the previous person responsible for being a mess.
"So when you want to move to another division, but you don't hand over, suddenly it's someone else's responsibility. So what's the account? Well, this handover process is a problem," he said
