JAKARTA - Outlook is used by millions of people every day. Therefore, Microsoft finally officially launched the Outlook Lite app for Android on Tuesday, August 1.

"We're excited to announce the availability of Outlook Lite in select markets to empower more individuals, schools, universities, and small businesses with solutions for their lightweight mobile devices," the company said in a statement.

Basically, Outlook allows you to send and receive email messages, manage calendars, save contact names and numbers, and track tasks.

Actually, the Microsoft Outlook application has been released since 2015. However, because not all Androids can install it, Microsoft finally launched Outlook Lite with a smaller size with the same features as the main application.

"Outlook Lite brings the key features of Microsoft Outlook in a smaller, fast-performance application for light devices on any network," explains the company.

The main Microsoft Outlook application is available for Android devices worldwide. While Outlook Lite is only available in several countries including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, India, Mexico, Peru, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, and Venezuela.

Although it's not yet available in Indonesia, Microsoft promises to review additional support for other countries in the future.

Outlook Lite's Advantages

  • Outlook Lite has the core Outlook experience including access to email, calendar, contacts, and more.
  • The main Microsoft Outlook app is 57 MB in size while Outlook Lite is only 5 MB in size.
  • Optimized to run fast on all Android devices including devices with 1GB RAM.
  • Uses less phone resources, saves battery.
  • Works well on all networks, including 2G and 3G networks worldwide.

"With Outlook Lite, our goal is to make Outlook more accessible to users on light mobile devices around the world, empowering them to achieve more," concludes Microsoft.
