Awarded By AV-TEST, Kaspersky Proven To Protect Ransomware

JAKARTA - The independent security institution, AV-TEST declared Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business and Kaspersky Small Office Security products as superior products for advanced threat protection tests against ransomware protection.

Both products have been tested and found to be successful in protecting businesses against real-life simulations of ransomware.

Ransomware attacks are on the rise. Research from Kaspersky found that nearly two-thirds (64%) of companies have fallen victim to ransomware attacks.

Experts from the global Ransomware Task Force predict this threat will continue to increase due to the world's economic and political situation.

Tests conducted by AV-TEST show how a security product can successfully protect businesses against ransomware. The testing process also involved working through 10 ransomware scenarios, including from emails with attachments containing viruses.

The attachment contains malicious attacks such as Office documents with scripts, which when clicked will attack computer tools such as PowerShell.

According to the test results, Kaspersky products for business have yet again proven their product protection capabilities against ransomware attacks. Both products have been successfully analyzed to be a solution to the attack, and can completely block the source of the attack.

In this ability, Kaspersky products get a protection score of 40 points. The results awarded Kaspersky the “Advanced Approved Endpoint Protection” certificate by AV-Test.

“With ransomware attacks on the rise, companies need to ensure that their networks are secure, and threats like these will not successfully penetrate the initial perimeter,” Alexander Liskin, Head of Threat Research at Kaspersky.

Furthermore, Liskin said that in Kaspersky's latest report there were many techniques and procedures used from different ransomware groups, but the attacks had the same characteristics.

"This can help companies better identify attempted cyberattacks, as well as protect against those threats with the right expertise and security solutions."

According to Liskin, the AV-TEST test results are a prestigious acknowledgment of the hard work of Kaspersky researchers in creating a product that offers ransomware protection and prevention of network penetration attacks to damage corporate data.
