Priced From IDR 1.1 Billion, Polestar 3 Electric SUV Ready To Compete With BMW IX, Audi E-Tron, And Tesla

JAKARTA - Earlier this June, Swedish automotive brand Polestar announced the Polestar 3, which is planned for launch in 2023, will be the company's first electric Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and also the first to be produced in the US.

Speaking recently with Automotive News Europe, Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath said that the Polestar 3 will be priced from 75,000 to 100,000 euros.

According to the report, at this price, the Polestar 3 electric SUV will be a potential competitor that could undercut the BMW iX M60, Audi E-Tron S, and Tesla Model X, which are among the sportiest and most luxurious electric SUVs to date.

As previously reported by VOI, the Polestar 3, which will be assembled at Volvo's factory in Charleston, South Carolina, will use a dual-motor drivetrain and a large battery, with a target range of over 372 miles (600 km).

In addition to being a higher ride vehicle than the Polestar 2 fastback sedan, the Polestar 3 will also include a partially autonomous drive system for road driving.

However, Ingenlath says the Porsche Cayenne is his toughest competitor. But with this price range, of course, you can align the Polestar 3 with a Porsche SUV.

Furthermore, Polestar targets to sell 77,000 units per year by 2025 globally. That is, the figure is considered close to the current sales figures for the Cayenne.

According to Green Car Report, the Polestar 3 will be built using petrol and electric versions of the next-generation Volvo XC90 SUV. On the other hand, Volvo has also announced that it will build battery packs locally in South Carolina.
