Updated Instagram Map Feature Now Can Explore Popular Places Around You

JAKARTA - Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg introduced a new dynamic searchable map experience in the Instagram app.

Based on what Zuckerberg uploaded on his Instagram stories (@zuck), the big boss of Meta said that this new map allows you to explore popular locations near you.

"We introduced a new searchable map on IG today. Now you can find popular local businesses near you and filter by category," Zuckerberg wrote.

The company says that with this feature you can also filter location results based on one particular category such as restaurants, cafes, or beauty salons.

Prior to the update, this map feature would only be able to open addresses included in posts, but now you can also explore nearby places in the area.

How to use this feature is very easy, you only need to click on the location or location included in the feed or story post, then start exploring interesting locations around it.

Apart from posts, you can also search for them via the Explore tab. The trick is to open Instagram > go to the Explore Tab > write the desired location in the Search section > select a place option > Explore nearby places.

If you find a location you want, you can save it if you intend to visit it again at a later time. You can also share places via direct messages to friends or groups.

Also, if your profile is public or not private, you can put your location in your feed or in stories with a sticker for your friends to see.
