Following Twitter And Instagram, Netflix Also Experienced Crashes, System Reliability Questioned

JAKARTA - Internet service disruptions, this week, have haunted several leading technology companies in the world. This caused a number of service outages. After Twitter and Instagram had gone down or experienced blackouts on Friday July 15th, it was Netflix's turn.

The number of disturbances in the middle of last week raised questions about the reliability of the systems used by the big techs. Even the number of blackouts raises a question mark about the security of dealing with problems in the internet world. So far it is not known exactly what caused the blackout. It's just a technical glitch, or someone hacked it on purpose.

Netflix Inc's own streaming service is back on track after experiencing a crash for more than an hour and a half on all devices. This was announced by the video streaming company on Friday, July 15.

Previously, there were thousands of outage reports from countries including the United States, France and India on Downdetector, which compiles status reports from a number of sources. Netflix currently has more than 220 million subscribers as of the end of March 2022.

Several users affected by the disruption expressed frustration on Twitter about the blackout ruining their Friday night plans for binge-watching.

"Friday Night and @netflix are down! How's your Friday night?", one user tweeted, as quoted by Reuters.

Previously, an outage at Amazon.com's cloud services unit temporarily disabled Netflix's service in December. The incident also affected Walt Disney Disney+, Robinhood, Amazon.com Inc's various apps and e-commerce website.

Separately, Block Inc's Square is also facing problems, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.

On Thursday, July 14, Meta Platforms' Twitter and Instagram social media apps also experienced an outage. The micro-blogging site had nearly three hours of service outage.
