Wants To Develop Visual Content, Nintendo Acquires 100 Percent Shares Of Dynamo Pictures

JAKARTA - Nintendo has acquired CG animation studio Dynamo Pictures. In addition, the game company purchased 100% of Dynamo Pictures and changed its name to Nintendo Pictures Co., Ltd.

In a letter notifying Nintendo's acquisition of Dynamo Pictures, the company said it had a goal of developing visual content using the Nintendo IP, and the deal was expected to close on October 3.

This deal shows that Nintendo is serious about expanding its entertainment business including making CG animation.

Previously, the company had also teamed up with studio Illumination Universal to release an animated film in April 2023 based on the Super Mario Bros. franchise.

Nintendo, which was founded in 1889, has been famous for a long time, starting from game titles and game devices. Currently, Nintendo has franchises such as Mario, Kirby, The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong, Star Fox, and Animal Crossing.

While the visual production company Dynamo Pictures, Inc. founded in 2011 is also well known for his work in Monster Hunter: World, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Persona 5, and many more.

Nintendo also recently announced that it will not be attending the leading game trade fair and game exhibition Gamescom 2022 being held in Cologne, Germany.

This year's Gamescom was held as a face-to-face event after going through a long period of the COVID-19 pandemic. Gamescom 2022 will take place on August 24-28, in Cologne, Germany.

Not only Nintendo, several game companies such as Activision Blizzard, Take-Two Interactive, Wargaming, and Sony also decided to miss the event.
