JAKARTA - In March, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) was rumored to be acquiring Canadian indie game studio Haven for an undisclosed amount.

Since then, there has been no further information regarding the progress of the acquisition. But on Monday, July 11, the company officially announced that it had completed the acquisition process.

"It's official! The agreement to acquire Haven has closed. Welcome to the PlayStation Studios family, Have Studio Inc," Sony wrote on Twitter.

Along with this announcement, Jade Reymond from Haven studios told Gamesindustry.biz that they now have 106 employees, which means the number has increased by more than 50 since October last year.

Moreover, they created several key engineering employees, and significantly increased their investment in R&D and the cloud. "We've mentioned that we build studios in the cloud and that's been our vision since we started during the pandemic," said Raymond.

Reymond added, previously, they only had a cloud team of only six people. "Now, we've just welcomed another 21 engineers to focus on long-term cloud innovation."

With this change, Haven studio is sure to be a game changer in how the game is made. The studio also announced it would be making an original AAA multiplayer game for the PS5.

Even so, Reymond didn't say much about the game. On the other hand, he leaked his collaboration with PS5 architect Mark Cerny.

"It's not just about the cloud but also some of the more forward-thinking R&D. I can't say too much right now, but it's definitely one of the other things that's been a big and exciting draw for our team with PlayStation," he explained.
