JAKARTA - The Japanese automotive hose maker, Nichirin Co. , on Wednesday, June 22 said that its US subsidiary had been hit by a ransomware attack that forced it to shut down its computerized production controls.
According to Nichirin's release to the media, one of their units in the US, which supplies hoses to the Japanese automaker, has switched to manual production and delivery to keep parts flowing to customers.
"We are investigating what impact this may have on our customers, and we will be disclosing the necessary information immediately," the company said.
Nichirin also posted a warning on his website about possible fake emails that appeared to be from the company and asked recipients not to open the attached file.
