JAKARTA - Augmented Reality (AR) company from China, Nreal announced that it will bring a selection of popular games on Steam for Nreal Light and Nreal Air AR. It allows users to stream games from their PC to a virtual big screen, and enjoy playing their favorite titles on a comfortable couch.
Launching The Verge, in a press release said that now, the company has released the first beta of "Steam for Nreal" which allows for certain Steam games. However, the company realized that it requires a bit of setup, and not all games on Steam can work optimally. The company said the capability would be fully available by the end of June.
Currently, Nreal plans to soon add wider compatibility with the entire Steam library, plus release more apps and services. Previously, the Nreal Light glasses had caught the attention of gamers for being able to stream games from Xbox Cloud Gaming and other streaming services to a virtual 200-inch large screen.
The Nreal glasses were first launched in Asia before launching in the US last year and are designed to connect to Samsung and OnePlus Android phones. However, its features are less complete when compared to Microsoft HoloLens or MagicLeap.
But this can be a reasonable choice because it has a more affordable price of Rp. 8.3 million. At this price Nreal already supports relatively advanced features like AR hold and hand tracking.
The development of AR glasses is increasing for big companies like Meta and Apple, while Nreal is an early entrant to the market.
