JAKARTA - After announcing its plans to introduce Tap to Pay on iPhones in February 2022, Apple has now tested the feature.

Apple says the new capabilities will empower millions of merchants across the US, from small businesses to large retailers, to use their iPhones to accept Apple Pay, with no additional hardware or payment terminals required.

A video uploaded by user @NTFTWT, shows that they are making an Apple Pay payment directly to the iPhone from an Apple staff.

"Apple Parks Visitor Center is the only Apple retail store in the US to support contactless payroll from iPhone. Awesome to see in person!" write the user.

The video shows them simply sticking their iPhone into another iPhone without any additional hardware or payment terminals.

Tap to Pay on iPhone will be available for payment platforms and app developers to integrate into their iOS apps and offer as a payment option to their business customers.

Once Tap to Pay on iPhone is available, merchants will be able to unlock contactless payment acceptance via the supporting iOS app on iPhone XS or later devices.
