JAKARTA - The classic RPG remake LIVE A LIVE was announced earlier this year, and will be released to all fans in the next few months.
The announcement schedule with the launch of the game is fairly short, it seems that the time spent on game production is relatively short.
Speaking in an interview with Famitsu, launching Nintendo Everything, LIVE A LIVE Director Takashi Tokita revealed that development of the game started in early 2019, and lasted three years.
Tokita admits that the game's development time is arguably shorter than today's game production
Continuing his explanation, the Japanese developer said that the development team had decided on the visual aesthetics of HD-2D.
"The main reason was that we decided on HD-2D early on and didn't spend time exploring other art styles," he said.
Tokita admitted that it took about six months during pre-production to decide whether the team should use 2D or 3D.
"We have no doubt that the HD-2D remake will match the original Super Famicom version."
However, Tokita continued, development ended up taking quite a while, due to the timing of the remake being made on a completely new and different system compared to the original SNES title.
LIVE A LIVE will be out on July 22, exclusively for Nintendo Switch. Square Enix has said that they plan to remake more classic games using the HD-2D style in the future.
