Fans Can Now Give Money To Favorite Creator Content Through The Super Thanks Feature

JAKARTA - YouTube is once again making creator content work on its platform, by expanding the Super Thanks tipping feature to more creators.

The Super Thanks feature is another way to give more creators the ability to monetize their presence on the platform, allowing fans to send tips directly to creator content in videos.

The tip amount varies from 2 to 50 US dollars, equivalent to Rp. 28 thousand to Rp. 700 thousand, and fans can include special comments when they send money to content creators.

Previously, if a fan sent a Super Thanks, the default message to creators was Thank you!, YouTube says the option to customize the message will encourage more meaningful interactions between content creators and their fans.

The Program is now open to all eligible content creators who are already connected within YouTube Partners and in 68 countries.

"Every day, YouTube creator content helps me learn or achieve something new. Imagine if you could say a special thank you to your favorite content creator or show appreciation for a particular video that has taught you something new or helped you. With Super Thanks, now you can," said Samantha Stevens, product manager for Paid Digital Goods at YouTube.

Launching The Verge, Wednesday, April 27, Super Thanks is one of YouTube's Paid Digital features, which the platform calls any product that allows fans to pay for creators' content directly.

YouTube actually also has a Super Chat monetization feature first, which is a way for creators to monetize their live streams.

There's also a Super Stickers feature aimed at fans who want to show support and connect with their favorite creators.

Apart from that, content creators also make money from their videos on YouTube through ad revenue sharing with the platform. But some of the content creators say that revenue is unreliable.

Therefore, the presence of Super Thanks to directly monetize creator content from fans can provide a more stable revenue stream for those who are too dependent on advertisers.
