JAKARTA - A total of 11 applications, including the Azan application, which is suspected of stealing user data, are now threatened with being blocked by the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo), if they do not immediately make repairs.

"The Ministry of Communication and Information is currently investigating the allegations of 11 applications that have the potential to violate or misuse the public's personal data," said Ministry of Communications and Informatics spokesman Dedy Permadi in a statement quoted by VOI, Saturday, April 23.

Dedy explained, when the Ministry of Communication and Informatics conducted this investigation, his party did find features that had the potential to misuse personal data.

"So we have conveyed to the Electronic System Operator (PSE) of the application to immediately repair the system and also close features that have the potential for a violation of personal data protection," explained Dedy.

Dedy emphasized, if within three days PSE does not carry out instructions from the Kemenkominfo, steps will be taken to close access to applications that are proven not to have followed the advice.

"So we have given three days since yesterday, yes, to repair the system in these applications. If this is not done, then we will close access to these applications both on the Google Play Store and the App Store," said Dedy.

Meanwhile, Dedy said the Ministry of Communication and Informatics had also officially submitted to PSE 11 the application to comply with the prevailing laws and regulations in Indonesia.

"As for the form of delivery, it has been submitted through an official letter. Among those applications, we already have a list, which applications are proven to have features that have the potential to commit personal data breaches, "explained Dedy.
