JAKARTA - Amy Hennig's Skydance studio New Media announced on Tuesday, April 19, that it is collaborating with Lucasfilm Games to develop and produce a narrative-based action-adventure game featuring an original story set in the Star Wars galaxy.

Helming Skydance New Media is the award-winning writer and director of Amy Hennig, a gaming industry legend whose credits include the blockbuster series Legacy of Kain, Jak and Daxter, and Uncharted.

Lucasfilm Games said the title would tell a new, original story set in the Star Wars galaxy but offered few other details about the project, including a release date or target platform.

“I have often described how seeing Star Wars in 1977 fundamentally changed my 12 year old brain, shaping my creative life and indelible future,” Hennig, president of Skydance New Media, wrote on his blog.

Hennig also said he was excited to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell an interactive story in the galaxy he loves. For Hennig, Tuesday's announcement marked the return of the Star Wars franchise.

“We are very happy to be working with Amy again. He and the Skydance New Media team have the talent and ambition to create unique Star Wars adventures,” said Douglas Reilly, vice president of Lucasfilm Games.

This is the second major project announced for the game studio, created by Hennig and veteran producer Julian Beak to spearhead a new category of narrative-based interactive entertainment.

In late 2021, the studio announced a partnership with Marvel Entertainment to create new games with their original and unique stories for beloved Marvel characters.
