JAKARTA - Google is rolling out improvements to Docs that can help users improve the quality of their writing. As described in a recent blog post, Google added a number of new “writing aids” features, including synonyms and sentence structure suggestions.

The service will also flag "inappropriate" language, as well as instances where you'd be better served using an active rather than a passive voice.

The Smart Compose feature offers auto-complete suggestions as you type. In addition to this latest update, Google also announced that Docs is now able to summarize the most important information in any document, to navigate through lengthy reports.

In a separate notification, Google Drive allows the cloud storage service to know which documents you might want to work on at any given time, thereby cutting time spent searching for those files.

The presence of a further recommendation feature for Docs is another step in the campaign to make the company's product suite smarter.

"Suggestions appear as you type and help guide you when there's an opportunity to avoid repetitive or unnecessary words, helping to diversify your writing and ensuring you're using the most effective words for the situation," explains Google.

Google hopes that these future updates will help improve your writing style and create more dynamic, clear, inclusive, and concise documents.

The new Google Docs feature is currently in the process of being rolled out and will apply to all premium business customers by the end of the month.
