JAKARTA - Developer Heart Machine and publisher Gearbox announced on Thursday, March 31 that Hyper Light Breaker is not a sequel to 2016's Hyper Light Drifter. Hyper Light Breaker will focus on 3D action and feature single-player multiplayer.

Heart Machine announced Hyper Light Breaker during a livestream last Thursday to celebrate the sixth anniversary of Drifter's release. The game's first trailer consists of a very brief animated preview and gameplay footage at the end.

The developers say their next game will be playable next year. The early access launch for Hyper Light Breaker makes its way to Steam sometime in spring 2023.

Gearbox Publishing partnered with Heart Machine to publish Hyper Light Breaker. Release platforms outside of PC were not announced. The game takes place in Overgrowth, a new place in the Hyper Light universe filled with biomes and huge monsters. Hyper Light Breaker is rouge-lite and you must overthrow the Abyss King.

Hyper Light Drifter is a 2D isometric game, while Breaker is a completely 3D game, where you can wall-dash, hoverboard, and slide your way through an ever-changing environment.

Hyper Light Breaker will bring up a new 3D world to explore. You have to solve mysteries in a messy world. You will also face fierce enemies.
