JAKARTA - After acquiring Indian gaming company Gambit, Glance expects to accelerate its ambition to build the largest platform for NFT-based live gaming experiences for Gen-Z globally.

The acquisition will integrate Glance's capabilities and expertise in lockscreen-centric innovation with Gambit's understanding of the gaming ecosystem. Glances Games is Glance's lock screen gaming platform that has more than 45 million monthly active users across Asia, with 70 percent of users in the 18-34 age group.

“The interactive gaming experience connected on the lock screen is key to Glance's vision to build the world's largest live internet platform. We will also launch NFT partnering with content creators for live gaming that will generate unique 'play-to-earn' and 'play-to-own' possibilities for the entire gaming ecosystem,” said Piyush Shah, Co-founder of InMobi Group and President and COO, Glance in a release, Monday, March 28.

The company founded in 2015 by Yashashvi Takallapalli, Gaurav Konar, Ranaveer Sankieneni and Deepak Venkatramani has a very professional team in building a platform with high engagement and monetization.

Gambit already owns and operates Nostragamus, a hugely popular gaming platform with fantasy sports, poker, rummy, quizzes and other hyper-casual games. More than 100 million games have been played on this platform and nearly 10 million registered users have been recorded.

Gambit co-founder and CEO, Yashashvi Takallapalli, added that they are already starting to see a big traction for live gaming on Glance.

"With the combined strengths of Glance and Gambit and our belief that there is a game for everyone, we expect the number of monthly active gamers at Glance Games to double next year," he said.

Glance will leverage Gambit's expertise to launch highly interactive live gaming experiences, including tournaments, game shows, game streaming, and multiplayer gameplay on the lock screen. Gambit will also allow Glance to launch several casual to midcore games that can be enjoyed by all types of gamers.

In the coming quarter, Glance also plans to launch NFT in live gaming. This has the potential to allow creators, streamers and developers to monetize through NFT-based game creation and assets, while providing a unique experience that gamers love.

In February 2022, Glance received an injection of US$ 200 million or IDR 2.78 trillion from Jio Platforms to accelerate its global expansion. The company also has a business partner with Jio where the Glance lock screen platform will be integrated into the JioPhone Next smartphone. This integration is expected to further expand Glance Games' reach.
