JAKARTA - The developer and maker of popular Japanese games, Konami, will hold an indie game convention in Japan this summer. Indie Games Connect 2022 will be held on June 26, 2022 at the Konami Creative Center in Ginza, Tokyo.
Exhibitors and performers are free to attend this convention. The purpose of this convention is to allow indie game developers to network and promote their games to a large audience.
Registration is open for game developers who wish to attend the event. Details on how the public can attend the same event, will be announced in the future.
Indie Games Connect 2022 will be free to make it easier for game developers to connect. Konami even intends to hold a consultation session at this event to answer any questions indie game developers might have.
According to Siliconera, one of the seminars will be hosted by Shuhei Yoshida of PlayStation, who is the head of the SIE Independent Developer Initiative and former president of SIE Worldwide Studios. He will talk about “the future of gaming and indie creators.” Notably, Konami lists PlayStation as the biggest sponsor of Indie Games Connect 2022 on its events page.
Konami Corporation is the developer and creator of various popular games, one of which is PES 2021 mobile. The company was founded in 1969 in Osaka, Japan by Kagemasa Kōzuki.
Recently, Konami released GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon on Nintendo Switch. It's a revival of the classic Konami IP, but developed by an indie team. Correspondingly, last year Konami held a contest challenging indie game developers to come up with something new with the company's IP.
All of this is part of Konami's new effort to encourage the development and publishing of indie games. However, there are reports that the company has plans for big IPs like Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, and Castlevania as well.
Indie Games Connect 2022 will take place on June 26, 2022 in Ginza, Tokyo, and indie game developers have until April 22, 2022 to register for the event.
