JAKARTA - Pinterest is moving deeper into e-commerce with some of its new features announced at its annual advertiser summit. The platform says that users have been asking for a way to shop directly on Pinterest and now they are granting it.

The in-app checkout feature is currently available in beta for some Shopify sellers in the US. Pinterest plans to expand access in the US this year. They will be contacting the people who run the store through Shopify with more details soon.

The company also announced a feature called Your Store on Pinterest Presents. They, call this a personal shopping concierge which will provide users with their own personal shopping page.

It will recommend makers and brands based on your preferences and activity. This feature will be available in beta for some users in the US. Pinterest plans to expand Your Store to all US pinners this year ahead of the international launch.

Additionally, citing Engadget, Pinterest says it will be easier for sellers to upload catalogs to the platform and keep prices up to date.

Using the trending tool, sellers in the US, UK, and Canada will be able to view real-time browsing data, see trend recommendations, and learn more about their audience. The trending tool will be available in other countries later in 2022.

Pinterest is following in Instagram's footsteps by adding an in-app checkout. Instagram has had a similar feature since 2020. The Meta app added a special shopping section towards the end of the year.

Earlier this year, Pinterest added a feature that lets users see what furniture in their home looks like before they buy it using augmented reality.
