Apple Immerses New A14 Bionic Chipset In The Latest IPad Air

JAKARTA - Apple has just held its annual event online. In addition to introducing the latest line of products, Apple is also offering a new chipset, the A14 Bionic.

Apple claims this new chipset will be the most powerful processor ever made by the US manufacturer Cupertino. Moreover, the A14 Bionic chipset will be used for the latest iPad Air.

"We are introducing the iPad Air with a new design and much faster, using the most powerful chip Apple has ever made, namely the A14 Bionic," said Greg Joswiak, SVP of Apple Worldwide Marketing, in AppleEvent last night, Wednesday, September 16.

Technically speaking, the A14 Bionic chip is made with a 5nm fabrication or smaller than other smartphone chipsets made with a 7nm size. Even though it uses 5nm technology, this chip has a better architecture than its predecessor, as summarized from Techcrunch.

The A14 Bionic chip still carries the 6-core design inside, with a four-panel configuration for high efficiency cores and two high performance cores that save power. Another aspect that has increased in Apple's system on a chip (SoC) occurs in the image signal processor.

Where A14 has 11.8 billion transistors, so that it can increase the performance of the cellphone 38 percent compared to the number of transistors in the A13 which is 'only' 8.5 billion. Not to forget the artificial intelligence computing provided by Apple in the neural engine section.

Armed with this new chipset, Apple claims it will present a faster device but at a competitive price. Moreover, the capabilities of this chipset can be better utilized for photo editing or running games faster.

The Latest Generation iPad Air

Apart from launching the smartwatch Apple Watch Series 6. Apple has also introduced a new model of the iPad Air.

With a number of updates, one of which is Apple equipping this latest generation iPad with the A14 Bionic chip. Physical appearance, iPad Air no longer places the Home button at the bottom of the screen.

The home button with a fingerprint sensor and Touch ID will be integrated into the power button at the top. The new iPad Air comes with a thin bezel with rounded corners.

The screen carries a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina Display with a resolution of 2,360 x 1,650 pixels. It also features True Tone and is coated in anti-reflective properties.

Interestingly, there is no more lightning port, the charging hole is replaced with USB Type C which supports 20W fast charging capability and can transfer data up to 5 Gbps. Other features, the new iPad Air supports the 2nd generation Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard, as well as LTE and WiFi 6 connections.

Apple has embedded a 7 MP camera on the front, has Full HD video call capability. While on the back there is a 12 MP camera capable of recording 4K video.

Comes with five color options, namely silver, space gray, rose gold, green, and sky blue, this latest generation iPad Air will be priced starting at US $ 599 or (Rp.8.8 million).
