JAKARTA - WhatsApp is introducing a new tool for its desktop or website service, which allows users to create their own version of custom stickers.
Dubbed the "Sticker Maker" feature, users can turn ordinary pictures from their computer into stickers that can be sent via the messaging service.
Not only that, images can also be edited with the tools provided by WhatsApp, users can easily remove backgrounds, add text, Emoji and other WhatsApp stickers which can be layered before sending.
The introduction of stickers in the desktop or web versions of WhatsApp is an important improvement and would be more useful, given that editing would likely be easier with a larger mouse and screen.
But not with mobile users, this tool won't be much help where an app already exists to generate WhatsApp stickers. These tools can be especially useful if the user is a digital artist (and likely has creative tools on his computer) or prefers to edit images with a mouse rather than fingers.
