Ketum PSSI And Shin Tae-yong Will Discuss The National Team TC In Korea

JAKARTA - The training camp (TC) of the Indonesian U-19 national team is scheduled to take place on August 1. After several TC days in Jakarta, the Garuda Muda squad plans to fly to South Korea to continue preparations for the U-20 World Cup.

There, the U-19 national team did not only carry out a training process. But also holding trial matches with several local clubs. This is in order to test the ability of the players who will be the foundation of Red and White.

The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has not announced in detail when the U-19 national team will leave for Korea. The number is still a question mark, although it was rumored that 30 players were brought in.

PSSI Chairman Mochamad Iriawan said he would still discuss the TC plan in Korea with the head coach of the national team, Shin Tae-yong. He did not rule out the plan to be canceled due to several considerations.

"It hasn't been decided yet, tonight I will discuss with Shin about the continuation of the TC," said the man who is familiarly called Iwan Bule to the media.

TC's problem with South Korea actually made Shin Tae-yong's relationship with PSSI heated up. The parent of the national football sport had insisted that TC be held in Indonesia due to various considerations. However, Shin Tae-yong was no less adamant.

The former South Korean national team coach said overseas TCs were needed to test the level of play of the U-19 national team. The reason is, they will face an international level event, namely the World Cup. Moreover, PSSI and the government set a target to penetrate the round of 16.

Meanwhile, TC for the senior national team and U-19, which was actually held at the end of July, had to be postponed until early August. The PSSI Ketum said that the delay was because Shin Tae-yong wanted to make sure the players were completely free of COVID-19.

"Shin Tae-yong is also isolating himself in the apartment," said Iwan Bule.
