5 COVID-19 Patients From Papua PON Chess Sports Still Undergoing Independent Isolation

JAKARTA - Five people from the Papua PON chess chess sport are still undergoing self-isolation after being declared exposed to COVID-19. They are one referee, three organizing committee, and one contingent.

The Merauke cluster organizing committee works closely with the local health office to treat patients during isolation until they are declared cured and may return to their respective areas.

"We pray that they will recover quickly. The five people are currently undergoing self-isolation," said the head of the Merauke cluster PON XX Papua chess committee, Sonny Ropa, Wednesday, October 13.

Even though there were those who were exposed, Sonny said that specifically for chess, he had implemented very strict health protocols. Even during the game, all participants, organizers and spectators are always supervised by health workers to ensure the process continues throughout the activity.

In fact, the appeal to obey the health procedures is always voiced so that all those involved in the chess sport are in a safe condition.

"We thank all parties who have worked together to make the implementation of the chess sport in Merauke successful, as well as (showing) compliance in wearing masks and maintaining distance," continued Sonny.

Even more exciting, chess is the safest and most peaceful sport during its execution. There were no protests or incidents which meant that from the start of the game to closing it went very safely and smoothly.
