Conquering The 120 Kg Barbell, Lifter Diah Ayu Breaks The National Record At PON Papua

JAKARTA - Central Java lifter Diah Ayu Permatasari broke the national record after conquering a 120 kg barbell in the clean and jerk class at the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON), Friday afternoon.

"This afternoon is the highest achievement of my career as a lifter. Previously I broke the record for the 112 kg force at the Pre-PON Bandung West Java 2019," said Diah Ayu Permatasari in Jayapura.

Appearing at the Auditorium of Cenderawasih University, Jayapura Regency, Diah collected a total of 215 kg (95 kg Snatch and 120 kg clean and jerk) so that she was entitled to a gold medal for Central Java.

Diah broke the national record for the clean and jerk round from 112kg which she previously achieved to 115 kg and was broken again to 120 kg in Papua.

Diah's strongest motivation to excel is her parents who died in 2014 and 2016 and the presence of her husband and coach at the Uncen Auditorium.

For her achievement, Diah is entitled to a gold chip after defeating three lifters, each from Yuliani Gena from Lampung, with a silver medal with a difference of 18 kg. Yuliani accumulated 89 kg of Snatch and 108 kg of clean and jerk.

The other two rivals, Gusti Melinda from Jambi and Sari Mayang from West Sumatra, went home without packing a medal.
