32 PBSI National Training Athletes Participate In PON Papua 2021, Most Strengthen DKI Jakarta

JAKARTA - A total of 32 badminton athletes who reside in the PBSI Pelatnas in Cipayung, Jakarta, competed to defend their respective regions in the 2021 Papua National Sports Week (PON) at Wairingin Sports Center, Jayapura City, 5-13 October.

Based on the official statement from PP PBSI, reported by Antara, DKI Jakarta has the highest number of national training athletes in PON Papua, which is 10 people. They include Christian Hadinata, Ruselli Hartawan, Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob, and Adnan Maulana.

West Java will also be strengthened by national training athletes. There were eight people who were sent, such as Pramudya K, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, Hediana Julimarbela, and Saifi Rizka Nurhidayat.

Bagas Maulana, Mychelle Chrystine Bandaso, and three other national athletes will defend Central Java.

Meanwhile, East Java has four national training athletes, namely Moh Reza Pahlevi, Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma, Marsheilla Gischa Islami, and Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto.

Not to forget, the host will also field a national training athlete born in Jayapura, Asty Dwi Widyaningrum to donate a medal for the Papuan contingent.

The technical delegate for the PON Papua 2021 badminton sport, Mimi Irawan, said that the athletes were primary national training athletes.

Meanwhile, the main PBSI national training athletes did not participate in PON Papua because they were competing abroad.

The Red and White squad has just finished their struggle in the 2021 Sudirman Cup in Vantta, Finland on 26 September-3 October. They will next compete in the 2020 Thomas and Uber Cups on October 9-17 in Aarhus, Denmark.

The PON Papua 2021 badminton match was attended by 20 provinces to compete for seven gold medals from the men's and women's team numbers, men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, and mixed doubles.

The team events will take place on October 5-9, while the individual events will take place on October 10-13.
