3 Gold, 2 Silver: East Java Temporarily Leads Rock Climbing Medal Acquisition

JAKARTA - The East Java contingent leads the standings for the medals in rock climbing at the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) by collecting three gold pieces and two silver medals.

Of the 26 provinces that took part in the Papua PON rock climbing competition, as many as 10 provinces have already won medals, while 16 other provinces still have no medals.

"The first standing is East Java with three golds, two silvers," said Inspector of the XX Papua PON rock climbing competition M. Efendi during a press conference at the SP2 Mimika Rock Climbing Arena, Friday, as reported by Antara.

The East Java team performed well in the men's and women's team lead numbers, as well as the men's team boulder. Meanwhile, West Nusa Tenggara followed with the acquisition of one gold from the women's team boulder number.

Then, Bali got one gold from the women's individual speed world record number through its athlete, Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi.

Hosts Papua also received one gold through the actions of Abas Hamid and Nesthy Stella Pedai in the mixed classic speed number (mix) and West Kalimantan received one gold from the men's individual speed world record number on behalf of Veddriq Leonardo.

The next ranking is West Java and Central Java, which each won one silver medal and three bronze medals. Then DKI Jakarta with a collection of one silver medal and one bronze medal, and finally Banten and East Kalimantan each collecting one silver medal.

Since the race on September 27, until this Friday, seven events have been completed, including mixed classic speed, individual male and female speed world records, male and female team leads, male and female team boulder.

Thus, there are still nine numbers contested from the rock climbing arena, namely male/female speed relay numbers, male/female individual leads, mixed leads, male/female individual boulder, and male/female individual combine.
