JAKARTA - The Indonesian team will face the Malaysian team in the 2021 Sudirman Cup quarter-finals, according to the draw conducted by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), early Friday.

The Red and White Team are the winners of Group C after beating Denmark 3-2 in the group winner match on Wednesday. While Malaysia is the runner-up in Group D after losing 1-4 by Japan.

The other quarter-final matches are that the Chinese team will play Denmark, and South Korea will play Thailand in the top half of the match chart.

Meanwhile, the Taiwan meeting against Japan is in the bottom half with Indonesia against Malaysia. The match between Indonesia and Malaysia will be held on Friday afternoon at 16.00 local time or 20.00 WIB.

The Indonesian team manager, Eddy Prayitno, previously said that the Red and White squad was in good condition and ready to fight. Everyone is healthy, no injuries, and always in good spirits.

"After the draw is out, we will have a meeting with the coaching team to determine who will defend the Indonesian team and play in the knockout round tomorrow," said Eddy through PP PBSI's press release, Thursday, as reported by Antara.

He ensured that the selected players were the strongest and best teams that Indonesia had.

"We will field the strongest and best forces in the quarter-finals. Who will be the players later, just the most prepared and the best," said Eddy.

Meanwhile, the Head of the PP PBSI Achievement Development Division, Rionny Mainaky, said that the strength of the opponents in the quarter-finals, especially the group runners-up, was already known.

"As group winner for Indonesia, it is certainly more profitable because it will meet the group runner-up. Even so, in the last eight we will continue to fight as usual," he said.
