Ask Barcelona Supporters To Be Realistic, Koeman: This Is Not Barca 8 Years Ago

JAKARTA - Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman asked the Blaugrana fans to be realistic about the game displayed by his team this season.

Koeman said the current Barcelona team cannot play what the Barcelona team demonstrated in 2012 because the two teams have different circumstances.

"Barca today is not Barca eight years ago. We play the Barca way in 2021, but we don't have pace in attack because Coutinho cuts in, Demir doesn't run outside," Koeman said, quoted by Football Espana, Tuesday.

"With Ansu and Dembele, it's different, we have more depth and we have to look for other alternatives."

Koeman also added that Barcelona fans must understand the current squad of the Blaugrana and the coaching team must do something about it.

He insists there will be no tiki-taka and they have to play in their own way and if a game needs a change, it has to be done.

"Look at the squad list we have, we did what we could do. No footballer is for tiki-taka. You have to play our way, but if the game needs a change, we will do that," explained Koeman.

In Sunday night's match, when Barcelona were held to a 1-1 draw with Granada, Koeman's game was criticized for the tactics employed by the Dutchman.

Currently, Barcelona is in seventh place in the Spanish League standings with two wins and two draws from four matches.
