West Sumatra Athletics Beware Of Papua's Geographics

JAKARTA - The West Sumatra athletics sport is aware of the different geographical conditions that could be an obstacle for their athletes to achieve achievements at the XX National Sports Week (PON) in Papua.

West Sumatra athletic trainer Ediwarman in Padang, Sunday, said the difference in geographical conditions between West Sumatra and Papua will also affect the athlete's appearance later.

According to him, for a 100-meter race or a marathon, athletes certainly need to adapt because the Mimika cluster is located in a mountainous area.

"We have asked a number of athletes to adapt by holding exercises in highlands such as in Limapuluh Kota and Solok Regencies," said Ediwarman quoting Antara, Sunday, September 19.

In addition, another obstacle faced is information related to the current situation in Papua which is also a burden for athletes.

"The news of the shooting by KKB that is happening at this time is a psychological obstacle for athletes," he said.

He said the coaches and athletes continue to work hard in training to give their best and so far all athletes are excited and ready physically and mentally to compete.

Although undergoing separate training, his party ensures that the exercises are carried out in accordance with the training program that has been made together.

"If the scenario with this plan runs and the athletes are enthusiastic and do not suffer injuries, we can achieve this golden target," he said.

West Sumatra itself sent 14 athletic athletes who competed in the Papua PON, namely Fauma Depril Jumra, Rafika Putra, Yaspi Boby, Lusiana Satriani, Bayu Trianata Sari, Anjelina Eka Putri, M. Arie Desman, Fajar Hidayat,
