Real Madrid's Best Start In The Post-Cristiano Ronaldo Era

JAKARTA - Since Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid in 2018, Los Blancos have not enjoyed the same success as when the Portugal captain was in their dressing room.

However, five games into the 2021/22 season under head coach Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid are in full force having picked up four wins and one draw in all competitions.

According to MARCA, Friday, September 17, Real Madrid have not enjoyed such a successful start to the season since 2017/18, the last season Ronaldo spent at the club.

The Ronaldo era marked a time when Real Madrid became the biggest threat in the Champions League, as well as a consistent threat in La Liga Santander.

Between the 2013/14 and 2017/18 seasons, Real Madrid won the Champions League four times out of five. But since then they haven't even reached the final once, with two All English Finals in the last three years.

While their superb start to the season is no guarantee of a trophy at the Bernabeu, it is a good foundation for the year ahead.

European Elite

With the start of the season like this, Real Madrid have broken through into the ranks of one of the best in Europe.

Bayern Munich is the best, having managed six wins and a draw in seven games by scoring a total of 31 goals.

Paris Saint-Germain have five wins and one draw from six games, while Chelsea have four wins and two draws.

Ancelotti's 2021 Real Madrid have also scored more goals than any Los Blancos team in recent years. As far as five matches played, they scored 14 goals in five matches.

That is, the Spanish giants scored an average of 2.8 goals per game. To beat that statistic, you have to go back to the 2016/17 season, when they averaged three goals per game.
