JAKARTA - Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel has revealed England full-back Ben Chilwell is trying to get through a tough time after being disappointed not to have played for England at Euro 2020.

Quoted by Antara from Sky Sports, Tuesday, Tuchel said Chilwell's disappointment affected him mentally and prevented the 24-year-old from being able to display his best performances for Chelsea.

After playing for 90 minutes with Chelsea in the win over Manchester City in the Champions League final, Chilwell then did not play for England at all when competing in Euro 2020.

In addition, recently Chilwell was not included in the England squad when appearing in the 2022 World Cup qualifying event which affected the wing-back's mentality.

"Yes, of course it's difficult for him (Chilwell), and I think that's very normal. He's come from a Champions League win, 90 minutes, strong performances and a good end to the season in general. He played a lot of minutes for us in various games. important, at the highest level," said Tuchel.

"Then personally it was a tough Euro for him, because there were opportunities where he could play. The German coach explained that Chilwell was very disappointed because of it and made him mentally exhausted.

At the same time, Chilwell also had to lose his place at Chelsea because Marcos Alonso showed good quality and attitude during his pre-season with the Blues.

"He is resting and it is difficult for him to completely relax and take this disappointment off his shoulders. When he arrived here I felt he was a little bit tired mentally, still worrying about the situation.
