Lloris And Son Bicker, Mourinho Is Even Happy

JAKARTA - There was a scene of excitement during Tottenham Hotspur's victory over Everton in the Premier League on Monday, July 6 evening. Hugo Lloris boiled over with emotions as the players left the pitch after the first half. The captain was seen scolding Son Hueng-min.

Lloris was emotional because Son was deemed unwilling to cover up when Richarlison had a golden opportunity to score a goal at the end of the first half for Everton. They even had to be separated by their teammates.

However, after the match, Lloris insisted there was no problem between him and Son. The French goalkeeper said there was nothing serious with the two then hugging at the final whistle sounded.

"(The tension) belongs only to the dressing room - outside, you can say whatever you want," he told Sky Sports.

"What happens between me and Sonny is part of football at times. There is no problem. At the end of the game you can see we are more than happy.

"(The incident) was linked to a chance for Richarlison seconds before the break. But this is part of football - we are looking forward."

Meanwhile Mourinho - marking his 200th Premier League win - felt the incident was "beautiful". The reason is, it becomes a manifestation of his desire to make his players more demanding of each other.

"It was beautiful. Most likely it was a result of our meetings. If you want someone to blame, then that person is me. I criticize my children, they are not critical enough of themselves."

"I asked him to be more demanding of each other. Son is a wonderful kid, everyone likes Son but the captain told him that you have to do more and give more to the team.

"It's something that is necessary for the team to grow - to grow you need a big personality. When you have that reaction I don't hesitate."

Michael Keane's own goal in the first half proved the difference as Spurs came back from a 3-1 defeat to Sheffield United in the previous game.

The win leaves them seven points behind fifth-placed Manchester United and nine adrift of the top four in their pursuit of next season's Champions League.
