JAKARTA - The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) will hold another Home Tournament on Wednesday, July 1. This time the participants were pairs from the mixed doubles sector.

Unlike the men's doubles sector, this sector will match fellow national players with their regular partners. So that means, Praveen Jordan will remain paired with Melati Daeva Oktavianti. Meanwhile, Hafiz Faizal is a duet with Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.

There are 11 pairs who will compete to become champions. Understandably, the prize is quite tempting. There is a total of IDR 200 million that will be contested.

The match was made with a group system. Praveen / Melati are included in Group A. Meanwhile Hafiz / Gloria are in Group D. The best two from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals.

Praveen / Melati are indeed Indonesia's best mixed doubles at the moment. However, this event will be a big test. Are they capable of fighting their own friends, especially Hafiz / Gloria? Can the 2020 All England champion continue to appear consistent?

"This tournament can be a measure of ability for Praveen / Melati, they have to train harder, add more focus and, most importantly, be consistent, can they pass challenges from their own friends?" said the Head of Development and Achievement of PBSI, Susy Susanti, on the official website.

Susy explained why couples in the mixed doubles sector were not overhauled like men's doubles. According to him, the strength in the mixed doubles is quite evenly distributed so there are still many possibilities that will happen.

The Olympic champion also added that young players also have the opportunity to beat those above them in the rankings. Of course they are increasingly motivated to be able to show off by beating their seniors.

"For example Teges / Indah, it doesn't mean they can't beat the senior ones, maybe," said Susy.
