JAKARTA - PSSI promises to maintain the trust of the government which has given the green light to hold the 2021-2022 Liga 1 and the 2021 Indonesian League 2 season.

"We will maintain the trust from the government and work to the maximum. Hopefully the 2021-2022 Liga 1 competition will run smoothly, safely and successfully," said PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan, quoted by Antara from the PSSI website in Jakarta, Monday.

Iriawan ensured that his party and PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) would carry out Liga 1 and 2 with strict COVID-19 prevention health protocols.

The retired police officer with the last rank of Commissioner General confirmed that Liga 1 and 2 took place without spectators at the stadium and all those involved had been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Mochamad Iriawan also thanked the government for supporting the implementation of the league.

On Monday, the National Police also gave permission for the 2021-2022 Liga 1 and 2021 Indonesian League 2 crowds, which were announced directly by the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

"Alhamdulillah, we are grateful that the permit for the competition has been granted by the National Police Chief. PSSI also expresses its gratitude to the Java-Bali Coordinator for the Enforcement of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) who is also Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Menpora Zainudin Amali, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Head of BNBP Ganip Warsito and all parties who have helped us to hold the competition," said Iriawan.

The Indonesian League 1 season 2021-2022 is planned to take place from August 27, 2021 to April 2022.

The competition was held in six series with the matches taking place in three clusters in the Java Island region.

However, according to an agreement with the government, the location of the match will be adjusted to the COVID-19 conditions in the area.

After the certainty of Liga 1, PSSI and LIB will roll out Liga 2 which is targeted to start in September 2021.
