Coach Pacos Says His Team Can Beat Tottenham By More Than One Goal

JAKARTA - Pacos de Ferreira's coach Jorge Simao believes his team can win by a greater than 1-0 margin against Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham suffered a humiliating 0-1 defeat in the first leg of their European Conference League play-off match in Portugal on Thursday night.

Lucas Silva scored just before half-time to give the home side the lead.

They also they managed to keep the north London club cooped up in their defensive area for the remainder of the evening's game.

Pacos came on to the pitch after suffering a 0-3 loss to Boavista. For that, Simao is happy that his team managed to correct the mistakes from their previous defeat and show improvement in various aspects.

The coach admitted that the quality of his players was far below the Spurs squad. But he stressed that the Pacos could have won the game by a bigger margin if they had been more clinical.

"We played a good and consistent game," Simao was quoted as saying by Portuguese sports daily A Bola on Friday.

"We improved in an aspect of the game where we didn't do well in the previous game.

"We were competitive throughout the game and we didn't fall short in the moments leading up to the final result.

"We could have achieved a bigger margin despite the difference in quality between the two teams and Tottenham's eleven."

Spurs themselves will try to immediately overcome the defeat. Coach Nuno Espirito Santo is set to take them on against his former team Wolves on Sunday.
