The Serbian Contingent Again Wins Gold Medal In Men's Water Polo Final

JAKARTA - The Serbian contingent won the gold medal after defeating Greece with a score of 13-10 in the men's water polo final at the Tatsumi Water Polo Center at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Sunday, August 8.

With this achievement, Serbia managed to defend the men's water polo gold medal they won at the 2016 Ri De Janeiro Olympics.

Of the 13 gold medals, on the last day of competition, in eight sports, the United States contingent only got three gold pieces to continue the tradition of being the overall champion of the Olympics for three consecutive editions.

Along with leaders of the standings the day before, China, with just one silver medal, America took over the top spot thanks to an additional three golds in women's basketball, women's omnium track cycling and women's volleyball as well as two silvers from lightweight boxing (57-63kg) men's and super heavyweight (+91kg) men's boxing.

While the Americans won the most additional gold medals on the final day, the British contingent added two gold pieces from cyclist Jason Kenny in the women's sprint track cycling and boxer Lauren Price in the women's (69-75kg) category.

Apart from Serbia as the final gold winner, seven other countries also won one gold piece each in the last day of the Tokyo Olympics, namely Kenya, Canada, France, Bulgaria, Ireland, Cuba and Uzbekistan.
