JAKARTA - The Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) competition will roll back on 4 September. However, it is believed that IBL will no longer be the same as before.

This is because the IBL operator and the club agreed to implement regulations without foreign players. The player's safety factor is the main basis for the implementation of this regulation.

The procedure was long and burdensome, including a quarantine period of 14 days. Not to mention that the cross-country trips that foreign players have to make have the potential to catch COVID-19.

One of the supporting clubs is Amartha HangTuah. The club management agrees with the IBL statement which states that the safety factor is taken into consideration. In addition, the club can also save on expenses.

It is undeniable that the presence of foreign players is an attraction in IBL. They often perform beautiful actions to entertain the audience. The club was also helped by the presence of foreign players.

Of course, this regulation without foreign players creates advantages and disadvantages for clubs and local players. In the absence of foreign players, the opportunity for local players to show off is more open.

The positions, which have been filled by foreign players, will of course be given to local players. As a result, the playing hours of local players have increased.

The disadvantage is of course the teamwork is disturbed. The coach must polish the team's cohesiveness with the composition of local players. Not difficult, but of course it takes time.

Will it still be fun? Everything can only be answered when IBL starts on September 4, which is planned to be held in Jakarta or Yogyakarta. However, IBL lovers believe the competition will still be exciting.
