Chef De Mission Leads Last Group Of Indonesian Contingent To Leave Tokyo

The last contingent of Indonesia at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics goes to Jakarta (IST)

TOKYO - The last batch of the Indonesian team went to Indonesia with gold medalists Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu, bronze medalists Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, and Rahmat Erwin Abdullah.

The Indonesian Team's Chef de Mission Rosan P. Roeslani directly led the group accompanied by a member of the Indonesian NOC Executive Committee, Indra Gamulya.

Before taking off, the Indonesian Ambassador to the Empire of Japan and the Republic of Micronesia, Heri Akhmadi, left the group at Narita Airport.

"On behalf of the country, I would like to thank the athletes, coaches and officials who have fought so well in difficult circumstances. Thank you again, I hope this hard work can be a charity for all of us and a blessing for the people of Indonesia," said Ambassador Heri Akhmadi as quoted from a written statement, Wednesday, August 4.

On this occasion, representatives of Garuda Indonesia and BNI Tokyo gave appreciation to the medal winners for business class tickets for the Jakarta-Tokyo round trip, which were valid for one year.

The Chairperson of the Indonesian Olympic Committee Raja Sapta Oktohari who was present at the ceremony gave the highest appreciation to Ambassador Heri Akhmadi and all the staff of the Indonesian Embassy for the extraordinary support that has been given.

“On behalf of NOC Indonesia, we thank you profusely for the support from the Ambassador and all the staff of the Indonesian Embassy who have brought the best Indonesian athletes. Our trip to the Tokyo Olympics will not be successful if it is not supported by the Indonesian Embassy. This Olympics was very difficult because it took place in a pandemic situation and I also thank the athletes for their struggle and understanding. Alhamdulillah, we all managed to go through this Olympics,” said Okto.

Chef de Mission Rosan P. Roeslani also conveyed the same thing because the Ambassador always tried to be present in all matches that Indonesia participated in.

“This result is the contribution of the Indonesian Embassy team where the Ambassador is always with us in every match and what touched me in the last match, I thought it was only me, but the Ambassador was already present. God willing, we will return to our country and I will lead it directly. It is very challenging to run this Olympics but Alhamdulillah we can all get through it thanks to our prayers, obedience, and enthusiasm to live it well, "said Rosan.
