After Gaining Experience At The Tokyo Olympics, Pearl Young Pedaung Focus PON Papua

JAKARTA - Pedaung Mutiara Rahma Putri said she would immediately prepare to strengthen the Jambi Province rowing team at the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) after appearing at the Tokyo Olympics.

To Antara, Wednesday, the youngest athlete of the Indonesian contingent at the Tokyo Olympics said that he is currently still undergoing self-isolation upon arrival in the country on July 29.

After completing self-isolation, Mutiara will immediately join the Jambi rowing team which is undergoing a training camp in Pangalengan, Bandung, West Java. "After self-isolation on August 6, after that I will go to Pangalengan and join the Jambi rowing team who practice there," said Mutiara.

Mutiara said that in PON Papua, there would be two numbers, namely the Scull single and the women's lightweight double. "The competition in PON for rowing is also tight, I will compete with seniors there," said 17-year-old Mutiara.

Mutiara gained valuable experience when she took part in the Tokyo Olympics in the women's lightweight doubles scull number with Melani Putri, although she had to settle for being in last position in Final C with a time of 7 minutes 25.06 seconds.

"The Tokyo Olympics is a valuable experience for us because this event is the biggest we have ever participated in. What is clear, this Olympics is a valuable lesson," said Mutiara.

The rowing sport at PON Papua will be held in Youtefa Bay, Jayapura City. The construction of this rowing arena has also reached 97 percent.

As previously reported by Antara, PT Nindya Karya Engineer Muhammad Fikri through the official website of PB PON Papua, Tuesday, explained that the construction of a one-pack rowing arena with a roller skate arena with a total contract of IDR 128 billion and specifically for the rowing arena of IDR 14 billion.

"Now our progress achievement for the rowing venue is 97 percent for the one above this reclamation. Meanwhile, the one on the water, namely the monitoring tower, has achieved around 30 percent, it's just that it's not included in the IDR 128 billion contract, but the budget itself is IDR 4 billion," said Muhammad Fikri when giving an explanation to members of Commission IV DPRP Papua who made a working visit with the Papua PUPR Service.

In addition, the construction on the reclamation is targeted to be completed on July 31, 2021. It includes boat warehouse buildings, finishing towers, paving and rijit and others.

Fikri said that the most interesting part of the rowing arena is the construction of seven monitoring towers built above the sea.

"This is the only rowing venue in Indonesia with a tower on the water, unlike in Palembang, where the tower is on land," said Fikri.
